About Us
The brutal truth about scuba diving - it’s an expensive sport. Most of us can’t splash every day, every week, or even every month. The fact remains that most “scuba time” is spent talking about it, flying to it, driving from it, or purchasing gear for the next dive excursion.
Enter DallasDivers.com, an online resource for all things scuba. Built by divers for divers, DD was created to be an outlet for diving information, education, stimulation, and entertainment for the local dive community. From aspiring Open Water Trainees to Deep Water Technophiles, DD will enlighten and inform with anticipated regularity.
As our community input grows, we plan to include dive site reports (both local and international), gear reviews, book reviews, Web-based merchant reviews, training experiences, and a rundown of the local dive shops in our area.
Can we do it alone? Yeah, but remember the old adage “the sum of the parts…”. We will flourish more productively with input from you, the diving community. And that’s where the fun starts. Share your diving photographs, send in your dive trip videos, tell us about your diving experiences, and we’ll format and publish them on the site! With your input we all win!
DallasDiver.com recognizes and supports both NAUI and PADI and has received training from both organizations. DallasDiver.com is affiliated with no local business entities. We do this because we love the sport of scuba diving. Again, we welcome your reviews, images, feedback, and comments. We look forward to hearing from you.
Chris Manning - Senior Editor
Chris M. has been diving since 2006 when a friend invited him to try scuba diving while in Cozumel, Mexico. “My first dive at the Palancar Caves is still one of my favorite dives ever”! He has certifications from both PADI and NAUI in Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Night Diving, Peak Buoyancy, and Wreck Diving with the goal of achieving PADI’s Master Scuba Diver. Chris is also the Senior Editor for DallasDivers.com as well as its founder. “I created DallasDivers.com because there was a need for a web site dedicated to Dallas area diving and the great local dive sites”. He also enjoys underwater photography as well as assisting Hinkle in underwater video shoots. “DallasDivers.com exists purely as a vehicle to promote the sport of scuba diving and all that entails. We want to promote all the local dive shops, lakes, and scuba parks in the surrounding Dallas-FW area”.
Chris Hinkle - Editor/Videographer
Chris H. started diving in 2007 when an over-enthusiastic, scuba-crazed co-worker talked him into a Discovering Scuba Course. One year, one toe nail, and a bunch of gear and gas later, and he has earned cards in Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, a PADI Night Diver specialty certification, and is currently fulfilling training obligations for his Dive Master card. In addition to Athens, Travis, and CSSP, Chris has dove many of the wrecks and reefs of Aruba. “My favorite dive of the whole trip… probably the Sonesta Air Plane Wrecks at night… it was deep, dark, and simply put, exhilarating!” Chris contributes to the site with a matter-of-fact writing style and creative video work, both above and below the surface. When not diving, Chris is shooting video, editing video, getting paid for shooting and editing video, and buying more scuba gear so he can dive more.
Sebron Snyder - Editor
Sebron has been diving off-and-on since 1986. Cutting his teeth on jetty and beach diving in Destin, Florida lead to later years of diving great locations such as the Belize and Mexico. 2007 was the awakening year for Sebron. Experiencing a resurgence in his dive interests have lead to Sebron’s daily commitment to the sport of diving. Along with his Dive Master plans for 2007 comes a commitment to venture into Technical Diving. “I truly love this sport and want to share that joy through safe diving practices, training and just plain fun!”
